i told my husband i wouldn't work today, but had to sneak in to say hi! disregard the scary face this is my sneaky excited face apparently...i need to look in the mirror more often when i make expressions...LOL!
well it is one of those perfect stay in your jammies all day Saturday's... it is pouring, which is so awesome, i love rainy days. i ate the remaining half of a jar of pickles for lunch, and right now i type at you in my jammie bottoms t-shirt and a zipper sweatshirt (oh yeah and nothing makes me happier than over-sized sweatshirts) at 2:05 in the afternoon...so lovin' it!
i have a few goals today. i promised my hubby i would not work tomorrow so i am trying to get it all done today. i have 2 class projects to create and organize, 2 LO's to finish and 1 LO to create for an assignment for Simple, still trying to spend some mindless time creating in my art journal, and at some point i am going to have to clean my office...however i truly believe in the creative power of organized chaos...so i am gonna let it sit while i work...possibly just working around it and shifting it.
well at least for a little while. i finally uploaded my photos from cku and realized i didn't take very many...although got some really cutre ones of ali and i. i taught last night at my lss...there were so many people we had to move out to the center of the store. and mid class the power went out for a few moments from an awesome thunderstorm that passed through. now that's a class!!! LOL
i am working on an art journal...and just trying to be organic about it...no thought, just do it.
i received a gift bag from angie sheaves last night filled with inside out reeses cups...love you angie, thanks i have already eaten one sleeve!!!
i also got some good garbage last night as well as a margarita and margarita shirt from leah. when i finish my garbage turned scrapbook, well even start it, i will totally share
i got garbage today!!! Beth Zentzis sent me some garbage...2 boxes of it to be exact!! inside the boxes were piles of trash to treasure possibilities. the boxes were filled with samples of wallpaper/fabric/paintchips that were going to be disposed of and BETH THOUGHT OF ME...THANKS BETH!!!!
i riffled through it all and these are what i thought the most fun finds...
there is something particularly disturbing about these roosters in wild animal prints...so disturbing in fact, that they had to go in my keep pile. so when you see me make something with these psychotic looking birds, know where the idea came from...BETH!
diggin the french shoppes...maybe matted and framed in my kitchen, perhaps and album cover...hmmm.
and well a woman can never have enough animal print and i figured since i am keeping the roosters i might as well keep the leopard...who knows they may end up in the same project...LOL.
then there was this...!
i totally cannot see this as a wall of wallpaper...maybe slightly more disturbing than the roosters, but i am totally framing this, in a black frame and putting it in my office. I think i might just go download a flock of seagulls song and chill with my cool 1980's chicks!!
then there were these cool borders i pulled out...
ok the coffee border is getting cut into sections and totally being framed in several frames in my kitchen...it's PERFECT!!!
and the last 2...well they just made me happy. no idea what for, i just smiled when i saw 'em
finally the paint swatches...
immediately i unwrapped them and walked them into my husband and started playing out a scene from "design on a dime"...if you watch hgtv you totally know what i am talking about!! my husband...well he already knows i am nuts so he just smiled and nodded. me, i feel POWERFUL armed with a fistful of colorful potential and not afraid to use it....
well thanks Beth...not sure if you figured out your boxes made me really happy, but they did.
i will be leaving for CKU orlando EARLY wednesday morning and depending on all the new crazy friends i meet i may or may not post until sun or mon.
i will be meeting ali for happy hour wednesday night...so cheers!!!
not a right answer in the bunch!!! NOT EVEN THE PUBLICATION>>>>HINT, hint...
JASON>>>>YES PAPERKUTS!!! you win the journal...now can anyone win the pen!!!!
Nicole >>>> you win the pen!!
i am glad that you guessed both pk power book 2001 & 2002 cause now i am not sure which year it technically is...inside the publish date is 2001 but the intro says meet the power team 2001-2002. either way you win!!
and as the first donna downey garbage givaway week comes to a close i am sad...however, i will now start to collect my garbage with a new keen eye, a new purpose...as i hope you have begun to look at your garbage, cause the garbage you have may just be a scrapbook!!
so with that i give you today's giveaway...
the first person to answer today's question correctly will receive this journal in the mail. it is from my decorative journals book (pgs98-101). it is one of my favorites just cause of the double spine....(confession, i did go to paris and the journaling is correct, however, i did recreate it for the books purposes, my real travel journal was your ordinary spiral 3 subject...no frills.) i will autograph it to you if you like before i mail it....however you will then have to plan a trip to use it...LOL!!!
todays question is HARD!!! it is not about speed, but knowledge or good guessing, so everyone has a fighting chance today...
in what publication did my first published layout appear?
answering the bonus question gets you a pen...(anyone can answer...not sure if anyone will know this but we'll see?) what specific publication, and year? the disclaimer on the pen is, i do not have any on hand but i will get some when i go to cku next week and then mail it out.
