my in-laws are in town my kids are just beaming with excitement and energy. filled with good food and relaxation.
we haven't done much, but simply enjoy the time together and of course played "GUESS WHO?" and "CROCODILE DENTIST" 100+ times.
the best gift for the kids this year was the leapster hand held games...all 3 got their own colored one and they have been loving them!
i got an ipod that plays the movies!!!! already downloaded "GOOD WILL HUNTING" and "STEP UP". the first is a classic and the second i just rented while trying to keep myself awake between sets on QVC and it was really cute...but i am the kind of person that can watch the same movie over and over again.
bills favorite gift i think was the PEARL JAM stuff i got him, he is a HUGE FAN!...pearl jam monogrammed socks even, LOL! gotta admit they were cute!
probably braving the crowds today, hit and missed on the sneakers for bill so we are gonna exchange them and the knitting machine for payton was a piece of crap! better luck just teaching her to knit with the needles.
working on some designs for my store visits next year, hoping to create a shirt for each store!
it is 7pm, cole has already passed out, the girls and i are tracking santa on norad and we just saw he is in london, england. we have slice and bake cookies to make for santa and 2 carrots to leave for Rudolph. mckenna is standing next to me giddy with excitement as all 6 year olds are, she can hardly stand it! we have all opened our christmas jammies and had our traditional "sninner". "sninner" is snack+dinner an antipasto feast of all our favorite snacks. we have even roasted marshmallows over the fire place or is it yule log? lets call it a yule log shall we!...lol frosty is on the tv and we go to bed after twas the night before christmas!!
ok, i have literally been done with my Christmas shopping since dec 1st. decided that was the day and compiled my lists and did it all on-line! i love to shop, but just not in the stores during the holidays. besides anytime the ups man drive up to my house is fun for me! anyway, this all brings me to the virtual scream. so today i had to go out and get all the wrapping paper, tape, boxes, stocking stuffers for my husband and my in laws, a few impulse purchases for the kids, a mascara and a quilt magazine for myself (total impulse buyer) and batteries. oh lord the batteries!!!
and your total is... $185.76 say it with me..."AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" yep, but you know what it was worth every cent of it not to have to go to a department store and to be ready for tomorrow's night of INTENSE wrapping! bring on the eggnog, i am officially ready for Christmas!!!
it is 5:05 pm and i am leaving for West Chester, PA!! i will be on QVC tomorrow morning at 4 AM(est)...LIVE, bright eyed and bushy tailed and then again from 12-2PM (est) WHAHOO!!! that means i will be running on no sleep!! all hyped up on diet mountain dew!! YEEEAH!!!! ok need to go to the airport! see you on TV!!!
lol!! i have no idea!! but here is the pattern elements i know for sure... #1 be around experienced knitters who can help you along the way! apparently lots of scrapbookers knit, and thank goodness i choose to take up knitting at a scrapbooking weekend event!! #2 just keep going till the design makes ya happy!! the original bag was to be a small handbag, it was a free pattern i received from the Knit n Knibble, but then i got greedy and wanted more!
materials: 2 skeins of cascade 220 color 8914 (green) 2 skeins of tweed cascade 220 color 7623 (brown) size 15 24" circular needles 4 stitch markers, however, i used tied loops of yarn. tapestry needle
so it basically started out as a bag bottom that and i quote the instructions...
cast on 28 sts and work 14 garter stitch ridges(knit every row, 28 rows total). do not turn. place marker.
pick up 1 stch in every garter ridge along the side (14 sts). place marker.
pick up 28 sts along cast on row. place marker.
pick up 14 sts along final side and place marker (this marker marks the end of the round and should be different than the others)
knit 11 rounds (ok this is where i just kept going. i have no idea how many rounds i knitted nor was i sure just how to count them. you may be able to count from the image. and if you can, please LET ME KNOW!!...LOL)
change to brown. (no idea how many rows! again if you can count them let me know)
not sure how many sts i decreased by but i then began decreasing by one stitch on every side for about 3 rows to make the opening narrower.
when i had all the rows of brown i wanted i cast off (thanks Jeanne!) all the way around leaving one side of 11sts (which was the original 14 sts - the 3 i decreased by and started building the handle. i stitched the handle long enough to fit messenger style across my chest. (again no idea how many rows.)
when the handle was long enough i cast off.
not sure if i did this right, but this is what i did. i cut the last stitch from the skein leaving about an 18 length, threaded a large needle through the end and attached the handle to the opposite side of the bag between the 2 markers (11 stitches side).
cut all the markers out.
did any of that make sense?
as far as the apron i am wearing, it will be a limited edition donna downey apron (so limited quantities), that will be made available in feb (after the bulk of the camera bag orders are fulfilled). fully monogrammable as well. more information will com soon.
ok apparently still having issues with my camera... so flippin mad lost another 80 photos! including the before pics of the bag i salvaged one partial photo though!!
so here is the bag before and after, you really cannot tell anything of its size proportion, but it was at least 1/3 larger before. i love it!! totally makes me happy!! and no i didn't dry it...i patiently waited and washed it about 3 times (no rinse or spin) before i got it to where i was happy with the felting. the last time i took your advise and threw a pair of jeans in there with it AND fortunately i used a zippered pillow case, although i do not think i would have had a woolen mess, i think your advise was wise. thank goodness the garment bag wasn't large enough!
cant wait to make another, i have so many ideas...now just to find the time!!
i guess it was just a 24 hour ick because this morning i woke up after a full nights sleep and feel great! thank goodness, cause yesterday was gross. anyway, now that i am feeling better i have a quiz for you... what is missing? it makes me sad to say but unfortunately i had to do it. my hair took 2 years of bleaching and finally had started breaking. so i am going to give it a rest for a little while, but i have to admit, it feels too normal. i miss my bad girl!
also meet Soyoka! she is one of our first camera bag orders from JAPAN!!! thanks Soyoka!!
SIDE NOTE: we never expected to get the number of orders that we did, so all the cards we had printed up say 2-4 weeks for delivery. we are now at about the 12 week delivery date. EVERY one that orders a bag before the holidays will be getting one of these cards so that if it is a gift purchase they will have something to give. however if you need a more specific delivery date feel free to email me and i can estimate one for you.
