remember a while back i wanted to tell you why i was downtown/uptown Charlotte for some very exciting stuff, but i wasn't able to spill the beans, NOW i am.
i am very excited about this BRAND NEW product!
but let me back up and tell you the whole story from the beginning.
a few months ago i got a call from Michael Cable, he asked me if i would be interested in critiquing on air a new scrapbooking product for a show that would be airing in the spring on PBS called EVERYDAY EDISONS produced right here in Charlotte, NC. (check out the site for more information and to see the other cool products.)
all i needed to hear were the words "NEW" & "SCRAPBOOKING" and i was all over it.
like american idol, the concept of the show is that thousands of inventors present their ideas and they narrow the field down to just 7. the show chronicles the 7 inventors and takes their products from simple sketches to full fledge products ready for market.
with no information about the product and no idea what to expect, i walked into the studios and was immediately impressed.
this is a still shot from the video footage of me meeting daniel bizzell, the industrial designer behind the product. he is explaining to me a little bit of the background behind the invention...mind you i still have not been able to touch the product yet.
these are the inventors Pam, Deborah, Mary.
their product is called the ARCCIVO and they invented it right here in huntersville,
NC. they developed the idea for this product as an organizational
solution to scrapbooking on the go as they moved between each others
houses or to crop weekends together. the ARCCIVO is a portable
workspace that not only allows you the flexibility to stop and pack up
whatever your working on, but also keeps unfinished pages or
pages in progress in place until you can work on them again with these really cool revolutionary magnet pages that keep everything in place.
their second purpose for their invention is as a workspace. after attending many cramped and crowded crops, they wanted to devise a way to easily mark their territory by unfolding the ARCCIVO and designating 3 feet of workspace for themselves to comfortably create in.
with this information i started inspecting the ARCCIVO, and asking questions.
how does it work? magnet embedded pages lay on top of each side to keep pages safe
will the magnets damage my photos? no
is it acid free? yes
how much can it hold? up to 15 pages with embellishments and still counting
what if i throw it? everything stays in place
what if it is open and i drop it? everything stays in place
is it waterproof? yes
does it fit into a rolling tote? yes
how much will it cost? between $50-60
you get the point. totally impressed.
they invited me back to the studios to surprise the ladies by personally handing them the final prototype of their dream, their invention, the ARRCIVO. so cool!
i am so proud of these innovative ladies and the fact they followed their dream and invented a scrapbooking product that fulfills a definite need. the ARRCIVO is an amazing product and will revolutionize the way we as scrapbookers work on our pages.
i honestly cannot scrapbook without the ARCCIVO now, it has changed the way i work on my pages and made me 100x more efficient. i no longer have to move pages in progress to the floor, loose my design idea or work on a page until the idea is complete. if i get stuck on a page i put it in my ARCCIVO and move on to the next idea. right now i have 3 make the most of it pages for Simple in there and 4 pages in progress for my next book. (but shhh...that is a secret)
They are even making a green line of ARCCIVO"s just for me and they secretly took the pantone color swatch book out to my green mustang to match it up! THATS FLIPPIN COOL!!
i will keep you posted on the ARRCIVO"S product launch...i will be going to the studios on thursday to record some more extra fun footage of me playing with the ARCCIVO for their booth at CHA. Also, the ARRCIVO website should be up and running by the end of the week, so stay tuned!
a new year, new opportunities for possibility...you could be the next inventor!!!!!
(the sexy crew...hee hee!)
