and i mean that with the correct pronunciation... such a fun time, sam and sheri...THANK YOU i even renamed everyone. you kinda had to be there at the start of this odd joke, but trust me it was too funny.
had a great time with deirdre, i mean "princess", she even came to class the next day wearing a tierra! i loved it! i also brought one of the pre-released arccivo's with me to give to the store. i caught dawn on camera giving it a test run.
also, registration for my workshop weekend at memory lane, PA opens today where i will be teaching 2 of my brand new classes for the first time! call the store for registration details
215.529.9194 downloadable supplies list should be available through the workshops page on donnadowney.com within the next week. work of art
santa brought mckenna a blue sewing machine, just like she asked. ok, do you know how hard santa had to look for such a thing?
anyway, we have been to the hancock fabrics twice this weekend, because she has been making and stuffing pillows for her family and friends all weekend (notice the cars pillow in the background.)
do i need to even say how proud i am of my creative little 6 year old? (disregard unbrushed hair...these were taken at 8 AM this morning.) anyway, she turned to me and said, "mommy how do i make a label with my name on it? i want to sign my pillow." Really can you imagine, i am so flippin' excited!
so she signed her name on a piece of computer paper, i scanned it, sized it and printed it on fabric. we cut them out ironed them into label shape and she sewed in her very own designer labels!
THEN, she turned to me and said, "now they are ready to sell." um, ok? so she is now the only 6 year old i know with an etsy store and her own paypal account. how could i say no? ok i know i said it once already, but i am so proud of her. her confidence, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit...
i had a moment where i thought, don't be silly she is 6, but then i thought... what if this is a moment that she will look back on one day and say it inspired and motivated her to be who she is?
youngplay memories is an amazing store. the people i met this weekend were so much fun. the store has an entire display of paint brushes in every different size and shape to purchase...i was in heaven, i limited myself to 6, but i could have bought every one. isn't that the coolest!!! there was a coffee shop, a running fountain, a decor section... and super huge classroom upstairs. i gave nancy, the store owner, one of the pre-released arrcivo's and we all got to play with it and shake it to test it out. this is maggie, hi maggie!! she is the first customer i have seen carrying my camera bag... that was such a cool feeling, to actually see someone else with the bag. heather check her out!!!
we even took a field trip to the knitting store across the street!!!
i am addicted...
and like half the people i met this weekend knit too!! are you sensing a trend?
so we had to take a field trip.
here is the scarf i started... and finished on the plane. then yesterday after my uncranky lunch, me and the family went to the knitting store next door to where we ate and i am working on this scarf. wanted to try the "yo-yo" style that my new friend michelle showed me, but i gave up after 10 tries. so i am just knitting the orange one. i am half way done. by the way...much better day today...lol!!
well i had a blast at youngplay memories...more than a blast! i have pictures, but i am a mess to day. i have already cried, yelled at my son for a little no good reason, YUCK! i volunteered to give up my seat on my connection flight from chicago to NC and stayed over night at a nearby hotel...first flight out left at 6:30 AM so i was up way too early. eeeww...even this email sounds cranky. i just read it back to myself! i think hubby, the kids and i are just going to go out to lunch. yeah food, yes food is the solution...lol!! ok i will post from my happy place tomorrow, promise!
