surprising thing happens when i come back from events, i am so excited to upload my photos and i realize i didn't take very many.
however, the ones i took were some good ones...lol!!
well this is Chicago!
i almost didn't make it to Vancouver for the first day of classes because of delays...believe me it was an exciting photo to take.
classes and my new friends were a blast...they said they would start commenting on the blog (i am looking for you, HA!!)
after classes on day 1 we headed out for some SHOPPING! really ali is a bad influence!
we went to Kroma, a fabulous little hidden treasure. used his paints today and they are FAB-U-LOUS!! dare i say i am a Canadian paint buyer from now on! kevin the owner kept the store open late for us and i am so glad he did! the experience and meeting him inspired me beyond compare...let me tell you why.
so his store was super cute and how could a store of paint NOT be inspiring, but he had a huge roll of canvas suspended from the ceiling, silly me says, "what do you do with that? do you pull it down and paint?" he said no he just pulls it down and cuts it for his customers. then he told us this story!
he had a teacher in college that every night before he left his studio he would gesso a piece of canvas. the next day he would not leave his studio until he completed a painting on it...no specific style or design, just painting for paintings sake and place it on the pile of paintings. gesso a new canvas and start again the next day.
he never assessed grades to his classes, but instead gave them the opportunity to grade themselves citing that if he was not to be judged by his art, they were not to be either.
I LOVE THAT!!
when the teacher retired his stacks of paintings were bought and shown as a collection by an art gallery.
why am i so inspired? i am going to paint a painting everyday, just to paint, just to creatively play, just for me.
what do you think?
lets start a new movement!
a painted page a day!
are you in??
then day 2 i met kal, a free-spirited and amazingly talented artist. check her out, she does the coolest thing with crayons i have ever seen!
=dinner was a blast...lots of Canadian beer!
Christina from Lazar Stuiowerx and our fabulous host.
Kah-mei, of fontWerks
me the bar fly.
claudine, gen and ali feeling the love.
after the brew we went to the big crop at clipper street to play...
said a bunch of naughty words in Tagalog (Filipino) to my new friends. it is what i do when i meet Filipinos, i must stop this obsession. it is all my best friend Karen's fault though. so for my Filipino friends out there here goes...
"su-su, pwett, killi-killi, pa king king"
feel free to teach me some non-body parts...LOL!!
morning of day 3, ali and i got stuck in the hotel elevator somewhere around floor 6. so naturally i took pictures...you know you would too!!
it was 9:30am, and they told us because it was a Sunday we most likely would not be out until 1pm. naturally we took a seat on the floor and posed.
since class started at 10am this posed a potential problem. luckily about 20 minutes later the elevator just jumped and we got out on the next floor and took the stairs.
that night after class we went to Christina's and played with image transfers!! learned how to use my new Kroma acrylic fluid medium to transfer images as well as Polaroid transfer. i already have my eye on the daylab! called them today!!
took 12 hours to get back home yesterday, picked up mom from the airport today and tomorrow night bill and i leave for Watford England!!!
