been working on several projects simultaneously... seems like i just can't get myself through to completion on any. one of which is this fun altered birthday album. i am going to scrapbook my entire family's 2008 birthday photos inside. the more i am working on it, the more i am loving this idea, cause as you know birthday photos can be a pain in the ass to scrapbook. the album (approx 8x8) will be filled with fun techniques and lots of texture...love that! i am not even photoshopping the photos i am just printing them right from the camera . my FAVORITE little epson picturemate printer will convert them all to black and white for me.
i am working to make this one of many video workshop and downloads available jan 2009!
If you're up to the challenge, email photos of your Trash to Treasure project to firstname.lastname@example.org

i have gotten so many requests in the past few months to make more of my inspiration journals i decided to make the time to make some more. this weekend i started putting a plan in place for a second release.
it is something about the mix of fabric and paper that makes me happy. i love these journals... here is what they look like on the inside totally refillable and easy to add too. here's what i did to one of mine as a starting point to inspiration. i just added strips of text, papers and eyelets...(things i love!) they are really fun to make and make cool holiday gifts. if you got some fabric you love and some papers (lol, like i don't know you have these lying around) check out the video instructions and the kits...but be careful, they are addictive!
here is the first batch, hot of the studio workspace. look for more updates and additions over the next few weeks!!
sat dilligently reading the reviews of the TWILIGHT movie before i went. they weren't good. however, i loved the movie! but maybe i was just jonesing for a visual to accompany the book and perhaps just a little more bella and edward in my life if only for 2 hours.
it is november 21st and already the radio stations are playing continuous christmas music, Christmas tree sellers are setting up shop and the big 3 story inflatable Santa is standing outside the local VW dealership waving as we drive by. mr 3-story tall Santa has become one of our most favorite Christmas traditions. we all joke and argue over who Santa is really waving at. (i still think he is waving at me, wink)
the holidays get crazy. not sure how and why, but they do.
"live a life inspired. dream with possibility"
how does that apply to the holidays? step outside of your comfort zone, think more creatively about the sights, smells, actions and traditions that surround the holiday season.
why have i never taken a photo or documented the story of the 3-story tall Santa? he is a big part of our Christmas tradition.
so this yearjournal your Christmas i am all in! this is shimelle's online workshop that includes daily prompts from the 1st of December to the 6th of January, the twelfth day of Christmas.
i am going to document this holiday season with a fresh new perspective, inspired and filled with possibility!
and best of all so can you!! shimelle has generously offered 2 seats in her journal your Christmas class. leave your comments to today's post and be entered to win!
but wait that's not all!!
each of the winners wins a spot for themselves and a spot for a friend so they will already have a Christmas journal buddy from day one!
i met Kathleen Reid when i taught at Scrapdoodles in VA. i had just finished up my first class of the day and she came over and introduced herself. we chatted for a bit and then she told me about her new book, A Page Out of Life she explained that it was "a scrapbooking novel." the whole concept totally intrigued me!
we chatted about the book and all of the exciting opportunities that have been unfolding since the book's release and then she presented me with an autographed copy of her book, bound in a beautiful coordinating ribbon...she is so a scrapbooker! lol!
i was leaving for ireland in the following days and was excited to have something to read to pass the time on the 7 hour flight. i devoured every moment of the story line and still had time for an in-flight movie! i loved it!
i have been struggling on how exactly to put the whole concept into words and why i felt an underlying connection to the characters, but then i realized, we all are living testament to this novel; fiction based on non-fictional realities.
real woman, real life, family, kids, real issues..connected by the community of scrapbooking. it is why you are most likely reading my blog now, because of scrapbooking.
it is such a powerful link to one another, a source of sanity even most days.
i wrote her when i got back from ireland and she told me penguin publishing is already itching for the sequel!!
if you are in for a good read definitely put this one on your wish list!

payton turns 7 today! what did she want for her birthday? "anything you would like to get me, mom." that is payton. a giver, a thinker, passionate, creative, generous and free-spirited... and now 7! time flies.
our joke is that today is the celebration of her "birth", and a celebration of the day i "birthed" a 9.8lb baby
tonight, payton, mommy and daddy go out to dinner just the 3 of us for a birthday dinner of her choice.
