Donna is away this weekend teaching at the Paper & Co Show in Naples, Italy. I know what your thinking, poor Donna :)
So while she is away, we wanted to bring you a Make N Take from the Studio!
This step by step tag project was created by our very own Studio Manager, Melissa McClary.
Use gel medium to make an image transfer of the sheet music on the tag. Book text would look great too!
Use your favorite stencil and apply a thin layer of Old Silver Inka Gold to the entire tag.
Stamp and emboss the giant rose with black embossing powder. I stamped it on a manila file folder because the rose is too big to stamp on a tag.
Let the stamp do the hard work for you and scribble the darkest color of watercolor crayon in the shaded areas. (It’s okay if you color outside the lines because we will cut the rose out later.) Use a wet paintbrush to blend out the lines.
Scribble on your lighter watercolor crayon and use a wet paintbrush to blend the two colors.
Do the same thing with your rose leaves and your teeny butterfly.
Stamp your favorite saying on the manila folder and die cut it or trim it in to the shape of a banner.
Cut out your rose and butterfly. Lightly ink the edges of your tag, rose, butterfly, and banner with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Arrange your images on your tag and cut the bottom portion off.
Use the scrap from your tag to make a ruffle with more sheet music (or book text). Apply red line tape or strong adhesive to the tag scrap. Gently pleat the book text and stick it down as you go. Use multiple pieces to cover the whole scrap.
Glue a piece of lace to the bottom of your tag and then add your ruffle. Glue the rose down with 450 Quickdry. Use Liquid Scrap Dots to give some height to your butterfly and banner.
Tie some twine through the tag and you’re all finished. Thanks for joining me in the Studio!
