i had a brief moment of purple and ran to the cobalt teal and titanium white to cover it up, lol!

this page has still a bunch of leftovers from my messy workspace...NOPE not cleaning until i suck all the creative mojo out of the mess!!! :)

"Grow" Card Tutorial by Maria McGuire

The fabulous Maria McGuire has done it again with a quick and simple card to welcome Spring! I am headed down to Scrapbook Store & More in Port St. Lucie Florida this weekend and wanted to share her fun ideas. She used quite a few PanPastels but this can easily be accomplished with just a few. This is a great beginner project if you are new to PanPastels and don’t know where to start or a seasoned pro!

I cut a 5” x 7” piece of Bazzill Smoothie cardstock and stamped two of Donna’s new Wood Mounted Stamps from Unity on it.

Using PanPastels, I first colored in the background with a variety of blues--colors are listed in supply list.

Also using PanPastels, the greens were added to the stems. Not pictured—the flowers were also colored with PanPastels. All colors are listed below. When finished I sprayed the page with Krylon Matte Finish to seal the PanPastels.

I edged Donna’s new Small Canvas Banners with PanPastel and using a Faber-Castell Pitt Pen. I then used some rub-on’s in orange for the word GROW. I didn’t care about the color of the rub-ons because I was basically using them to get the shape so I could outline them with the Pitt Pen. To get the center of the sun I punched a 2” circle with white cardstock and colored with PanPastel and stamped the sentiment on it.

The banners were attached together with twine and added to the circle.

this weeks collage monday was literally created from all the left over bits of scrap, tape and paints on my table and i am quite enamored by how my bits look all composed together! the next time you are cleaning up after a creative mess, consider taking out a journal and making a collage from the debris!

for the past week i have been trying to "re-invent the wheel" creatively...this never works out.

truth is creativity is what it is, it is what you do, it is the process in which you do it.

sometimes i just need to talk myself off the ledge and just do what feels good...makes me HAPPY.

listening to this brings me back to my happy place again...

this page started as a big mess and ended in a really HAPPY PLACE!

the background red bird paper is one of those large papers from paper source...(i had it for some time)

i began layering on some gesso, then black india ink and hated it.

i began filling in the ink circle with some small letter stickers and then added an bit of vintage photo distress ink around the stark white edges of the gesso and i really started to feel my groove.

layered in some masking tape and my new favorite tool the "sew stamper"...AWESOME!!!

if you haven't seen this, it is basically a roller stamp that stamps stitches. it has replaceable heads for different styles of stitches, i used the "x" on the page.

it subtle, but my favorite part is the white rub-on wings collaged over the tags and the tape...however that said i am easily amused, lol!

create a collage today based on the theme of taking flight...use birds, wings, and/or words to express your meaning!
