"Grow" Card Tutorial by Maria McGuire

The fabulous Maria McGuire has done it again with a quick and simple card to welcome Spring! I am headed down to Scrapbook Store & More in Port St. Lucie Florida this weekend and wanted to share her fun ideas. She used quite a few PanPastels but this can easily be accomplished with just a few. This is a great beginner project if you are new to PanPastels and don’t know where to start or a seasoned pro!

I cut a 5” x 7” piece of Bazzill Smoothie cardstock and stamped two of Donna’s new Wood Mounted Stamps from Unity on it.

Using PanPastels, I first colored in the background with a variety of blues--colors are listed in supply list.

Also using PanPastels, the greens were added to the stems. Not pictured—the flowers were also colored with PanPastels. All colors are listed below. When finished I sprayed the page with Krylon Matte Finish to seal the PanPastels.

I edged Donna’s new Small Canvas Banners with PanPastel and using a Faber-Castell Pitt Pen. I then used some rub-on’s in orange for the word GROW. I didn’t care about the color of the rub-ons because I was basically using them to get the shape so I could outline them with the Pitt Pen. To get the center of the sun I punched a 2” circle with white cardstock and colored with PanPastel and stamped the sentiment on it.

The banners were attached together with twine and added to the circle.

Easel Card Tutorial

Hi, it’s Maria and today I have an easel card for you showcasing some of Donna’s new products from Prima and Unity along with some PanPastel work.

Using PanPastel, I blended colors together to fill a 12” x 12” piece of Bazzill Smoothie cardstock. Colors listed below.

I love Donna’s new 2-step Unity stamps, but today I just used one part—the outline. I randomly stamped over the background I had just made with PanPastel until the page was filled.

After I was done I sprayed the card with Krylon Matte Finish to seal the PanPastel. You will need (1) 4.75” x 6.75” piece and (1) 4.75 “ x 3.5” piece of the paper for your project. Save the rest! It makes beautiful backgrounds in your Art Journal or to add to other projects. You will also need a 10” x 5” piece of black cardstock for the base scored at 2.5” and 5”.

I roughed up the edges of the paper and also added some texture stitching with the sewing machine around the edges of the PanPastel pieces. I stamped the sentiment on the smaller piece.

Using Donna’s new ATC Canvas pieces I used a masking technique using the same stamp that I used on the small piece of paper. This time I only wanted the word Inspire so I masked over the rest of the sentiment and the “d” in Inspired. This was stamped onto the canvas. I also edged the canvas with PanPastel.

One of Donna’s new Sculpture Poppies was added to the canvas with a ribbon behind it. I used Helmar 3D Zap Dots to attach the bottom piece with the sentiment to the card. It needs to be elevated to enable the card to become a easel.

Stickles were added to the centers of the flowers for a little extra bling.

today Maria outdid herself with lollipop flowers and printed fabric. Check out her step by step tutorial.

VersaMark was stamped directly from the pad through the stencil. White embossing powder was added and heated.

After Embossing.

A light watercolor wash was painted over the tag in pink.

Foam stamp image was stamped using grey acrylic paint.

A piece of fabric was cut and adhered to the tag with Matte Medium. A piece of Prima trim was added to the center of a Prima flower.

A Faber Castell Pitt Pen in Black was used to outline the fabric. The quote was stamped and highlighted with watercolor paint. A bird was stamped and cut by hand to place on the tag.
