i found the perfect mix...
well you did.
so the perfect oatmeal, so far, is...
old fashioned oats slow cooked for about 20-25 minutes in milk.
i put the oats in with the milk (before it boils) and cook at a very low heat (like 2 on my electric range)
lots of brown sugar...YUMMMMMMMY!!!
i tried twice and both times, oatmeal perfection!!
thanks you!
i have lots of LO's on my agenda this week and i still REALLY LOVE my printer...it rocks!!
i am kinda stuck in this white background phase, trying hard to break free. do you ever just get stuck in the same color phase? i mean i really like the LO's, but i keep getting drawn back to the white.
did you see the "where in the world is donna?" section lately? i am assuming not cause the only person who has commented on it was my mom on the phone the other day. november may be a months of exciting new things and announcements...STAY TUNED! dontcha just hate it when people tell you they have a secret and can't share it yet!! hee hee me too!
ooOOoOoOoOOOoOo....i love special secret event announcements. just give us enough time if we have to drive or fly long distances :)

I noticed that secret announcement the other day too.
Yay! cool! :) Glad you found the right combination for your oatmeal. It's just the little things that make life good!

glad the oatmeal turned out like you wanted it to! :)
I get stuck on a color, but never white. I'm not brave enough for white.

I *just* made oatmeal according to the canister instructions this morning! And I wasn't impressed...so I'll try it your way tomorrow! :)
Posted by: StaceyK | October 24, 2005 at 12:28 PM
I totally get stuck in a rut with using the same color over and over...my downfall is kraft though...it just goes with everything :) Glad you are still loving your printer, and I am excited to hear what your secret events are ;)

Yes! I have noticed your "Where is Donna" section! Can't wait to know what the announcements are! I can't wait to take your class at Scrapbooks 'N More in December! I absolutely love your site!

Secret announcement?!?! I really think you should visit the pacific northwest! :) Guess I'll just have to wait and see. :)

I saw the Where's Donna Section and am very curious as to the secret event announcements LOL. Glad you finally were able to have a yummy bowl of oatmeal.

I didn't make a comment because I hate not knowing things. Hate surprises. I'm bummed because I'm close enough to actually drive to NC, but never seem to catch the dates in enough time to beat their "sold out" status. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the new events. :)
I was brave and bought a canister of oatmeal...which I've been looking at for 3 days. Now I think I'll actually venture to open it and put it in the pot. I'm a long-time oatmeal lover and equally as bad at cooking it. Mine was more like drywall paste, instead of what you said yours was. LOL

You are such a tease! :) Can't wait to find out about the super secret events!

Oatmeal is the best! Try it cold with this recipe:
Make this the night before..
Mix equal parts oatmeal and milk in a bowl
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
Cover and let it stand in the fridge overnight.
In the morning, mix in your favorite yogurt, fruit and nuts. Serve.
It's good in the summertime when you don't want hot oatmeal but still want to reap all the benefits of oatmeal.
I hope your secret includes a visit to Phoenix in the near future.
Have a great day!

I really hope the super secret event is in Dallas. It really is nice here in the winter! (no fingers crossed behind my back!)

So glad you figured out your oatmeal ordeal...but I must say 20 minutes is WAY too long for breakfast preparation for me -- Instant Oatmeal is the answer!
I noticed the special secret event, but decided I would just sit at the edge of my seat and wait patiently. Is it in Ohio?
Posted by: Tricia | October 24, 2005 at 04:51 PM
How about coming to Louisiana? Yep I know we have no where for anyone else to stay around the New Orleans area but you can stay with me and have a scrapbook class. LOL I can't wait for a CK class or any other for that matter to get close enough for me to drive to. One can dream......

I'm stuck in a serious rut right now. I am using Chatterbox on every page. So I feel your pain. LOL

more oatmeal stories - found from "Hungry Girl"
CHEW ON THIS:
This coming Saturday, October 29th, is National Oatmeal Day. FYI, the slower-cooking oats keep you feeling fuller longer than the instant kind!

Ali is coming to Northern Va in Feburary and I know you want to drive up 95 to visit her and all us nice folks at Get Croppin'. Also, what's the deal with CKU-A are you teaching? any hints on album tracks? I'm planning on Atlanta

Ok one could only hope, wish, pray and cross every bone in her body that the special secret announcement for February could possibly be Australia!!! ;o)
Scrapping at Lee's house. ;o)
Posted by: Lee | October 25, 2005 at 05:21 PM
I love oatmeal. But I have a confession. Anything that takes 25 minutes specifically to simmer usually turns to garbage disposal fodder at my house because I can NOT resist the temptation to go sit at the computer to check my email for "a few minutes." ROFLOL. I wonder if there's a twelve step program for that? And now you are tantalizing me with secrets? I'll never cook again!
Posted by: Dianne | October 25, 2005 at 07:08 PM
hooray for perfect oatmeal!!
hmmmm...where will Donna be on 2/18, that's just 2 days before my bday...will you be celebrating my bday with me?!? i'll cross my fingers and hope, hope, hope!!

Maybe LIMA, OHIO is the next place to see!!!

Been hiding out from blogs lately. 2 more secret events? I'm another one hoping for Dallas. . .however, if not, several of us will be angling for spots in OKC.
I'm glad you found a way to eat oatmeal that you liked . . .me, I hate oatmeal!

Try www.davincisyrups.com or http://www.davincigourmet.com they have the best goodies there! They have all sorts of flavors and sugar free flavors that are GREAT on oatmeal, drinks and desserts too. I LOVE oatmeal. Finally happy FL is getting cooler weather so I can finally have some.
