ok it is official, i am the mother of girls.
i say this lovingly mind you...i just know what is to come down the road, i too was a girl.
and mom, i can already feel you smiling and nodding saying "what comes around goes around."
i know, i know...
yesterday, was a rough day.
other than the washing machine, which was actually the afternoon's entertainment, the kids were just rammy. mckenna most of all. you know the touching, the taking, the telling, the tackling all that "too-hot-to-be-outside-let's-get-crazy-inside" stuff.
so anyway i had talked to mckenna, about a dozen times about her behavior and with the final spit (yes spit...yuck!) push, blood curdling scream from her sister, i decided that was it. daddy was going to be taking the kids to the pool and she would not be allowed to go. in her room she would stay until dinner (@1.5 hours).
i go upstairs to read up on my new washing machine and at the top of the stairs, slip from under mckenna's bedroom door i find this.
what? can't read it?
let me bring that bad boy closer...
"no mommy, no daddy and payton & cole allowed"
BWAAHHHH
i almost peed my pants laughing so hard i can't take it!
i got mommy hate mail!
and of course i photographed it!! heehee!!
i am sure this is only a sign of things to come...little kids, little problems, right?
lol! been there... done that... and my dd is 12 now. good times, fun stuff! ha! love `em to death but they all have their moments. the nice thing about mommy hate mail, sometimes you get "I'm sorry" letters. :)
Posted by: Gretchen | August 02, 2006 at 08:13 AM
lol...Donna
you have me LMBO!!
Posted by: Vee | August 02, 2006 at 08:23 AM
I love it! I too, have been on the receiving end of mommy hate mail - you just have to love the fact that they feel so intently! :)
I'm figuring it's just a preview of the pre-teen/teen years (my dd's 6.5)
Hope today is more peaceful.

OK this one has me LOL! I love it and that is for sure scrap worth with a picture of a pout!
Posted by: Paige | August 02, 2006 at 08:45 AM
You are too funny! You just crack me up! I was having a really bad "migraine" morning, but had to laugh at this!!!! Keep it up, girl!
Posted by: Donna Matthews | August 02, 2006 at 08:49 AM
That is classic!! A great memory to scrap, but scray to think what may be coming in a few years ... I have 3 girls, the oldest being 5, so have the same scary thoughts!
Posted by: Katy | August 02, 2006 at 08:50 AM
OMG! Laughed so hard the ice tea almost came out my nose! I have a 9 year old and can't wait until she starts getting hormonal...Yikes! You made my day!
Posted by: Cherie Intintolo | August 02, 2006 at 08:53 AM
This is TOO funny! Just exactly something my daughter would do! All I know is that the extreme heat is making it miserable for us mothers who stay at home with kids! Mine have cabin fever and are constantly picking at each other. I am glad to see I am not the only one!!
Posted by: Shelly | August 02, 2006 at 08:56 AM
I get these all the time :)
I've gotten a couple from my 7 year old son and several from my 9 year old daughter. Too funny!
Posted by: Andrea B | August 02, 2006 at 09:03 AM
the note is HILarious. the story is ringing bells. the blog is SO Funny.
crap, (can i say that?) i was not planning to laugh this early today.
Posted by: nancy in ks | August 02, 2006 at 09:07 AM
Oh my goodness, that is so funny! My little guy can't even talk yet so I guess you've just given me a taste of what I can expect!
Posted by: ScrapScene | August 02, 2006 at 09:08 AM
I am laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes!!!! I so did that to my Mom a few times and I'm sure once my little one starts writing I'll be getting my fair share of those. I love my Mom because she saved all those crazy little "notes" and we have a riot looking at them from time to time. Save them, they'll give you all a good laugh in the future.
Ana.

Glad you could laugh it off!! The best is yet to come (coming from a mom of a 20 year old dd)--- can't wait to see a sb page with those pictures!!

OH- I know my day will come! Girls are so much work!!! After just spending the day yesterday w/ my girlfriends 6 year old who said she needed a bra because her cousins have one! Yikes! I'm not ready for this!
Posted by: Jamie | August 02, 2006 at 09:48 AM
I am still laughing!!! I did the hate mail thing once to my dad and my gosh he still has the note!!!!
Posted by: Paula | August 02, 2006 at 09:57 AM
LOL, Donna!! I get Mommy Mail often! I never thought to call it that, though. haha! I usually get a hand-drawn photo of myself, with huge messy hair, and then a circle with a line thru it across me. Yeah..."NO MOMMY" written at the bottom, too. The other day it was "THE NAAF CLUB." I asked what it meant, Noah said, "THE NO S ALLOWED FOREVER CLUB." Yeah, members - 1. Fun. :) LOL!

I don't know why, but my previous post wouldn't post the word "A... D-ULT." LOL I hope it works this time because it totally looks like I'm laughing about my son cussing or somethin. :)

Awwwwwwww, that is funny. My 8 year old son is now at the stage where "we embarrass him". Too funny the stuff our kids do that we did to our parents. :)
Posted by: Festi | August 02, 2006 at 10:34 AM
THis is too funny!
Posted by: Jeanne | August 02, 2006 at 10:38 AM
I am seriously laughing out loud right now...only because I feel ya! I get those "under the door" slips quite frequently ( because my 7 year old thinks she rules the world at the moment!).....they make me laugh...because I know she is expressing her dissapointment. Geeze...if only when she is 13 it comes to me in that way, yet I fear she will find quite the "voice" by then!! So funny that you had the camera ready for this one! When she is 20 you will both laugh about it!
Posted by: Debbie V. | August 02, 2006 at 10:44 AM
I tell all young moms.....this is your training ground for the big stuff. Mine our 19, 21 & 23. Learn every lesson you can along the journey, you are going to need it! I'm still learning. lol
Posted by: paper rocks | August 02, 2006 at 10:44 AM
Donna, you crack me up. Everyone here at work wants to know what the heck I'm laughing so hard over. I need to remember when my now 3 y/o gives me my first nasty gram to take a picture.
Posted by: Silence | August 02, 2006 at 10:48 AM
This is too cute and too funny. I'm sure you will receive much more hate mail in years to come but such is LIFE! I too am the mother of 2 girls; ages 6 and 3 and just the thought of them acting like I did scares the crap out of me.
Posted by: Stephanie Menzock | August 02, 2006 at 11:08 AM
TOO Funny Donna,
My daughter (6 yrs old) just comes right out with it "I HATE YOU"
I sometimes would prefer a note. LOL Samantha just usually destroys her room, thats my punishment!! LOL
Have a great Mommy Day!!
Posted by: Wendy Myers | August 02, 2006 at 11:10 AM

Posted by: Grace | August 02, 2006 at 12:08 PM
Thanks for the great laugh!! I have to remember the days when my son thought I was the worst person on earth!! Needless to say at age 24 he has actually said "thanks for being such a great mom"...I almost passed out! Thanks Donna for sharing your days with us - your blog is the first thing I look at each day - it lifts my spirits. Have a super day!!!

Sweet, precious McKenna...I guess she has her bad days too!! Loved the blog today, my "baby" is about to go off to college in a couple of weeks...and of course I got all boys, no daughters, and so far 2 grandsons! I really, really, really, want a GIRL in the family... Hate mail and all!! ~~HUGS~~ to you, glad your new washer is working!!!
Posted by: Diane McVey | August 02, 2006 at 12:49 PM
LOVE this.
LOVE that you photographed it.
LOVE that you blogged it.
LOVE you share all your mommy stuff!!
i know with our 4 yr old, things like that will be coming...
Posted by: erin yamabe | August 02, 2006 at 12:53 PM
You can live through this - it only takes until they go away to college to appreciate it. Then you start getting emails telling you that you did a good job as a parent (which are almost as shocking as getting hate mail in the first place). I love that you use the word "rammy" - I grew up hearing it and have used it myself. My husband and brother-in-law swear it's not a real word - that my mom made it up. She says she grew up hearing it. I thought maybe it was just a family word - we aren't related, are we? :)
Posted by: Angie | August 02, 2006 at 01:08 PM
oh boy thats hillarious!!!
Posted by: Giuseppina | August 02, 2006 at 01:26 PM

Posted by: maria | August 02, 2006 at 01:50 PM
I know you're going to already do this...but save it - IN a place you can find it. Cuz as a mom to two daughter, 21 & 17 - you're going to need it for humor relief down the road! LOL Great post, laughed out loud at "mommy hate mail".
Posted by: Laura | August 02, 2006 at 01:52 PM
ROFL!! Oh my gosh, this is sooo funnny and cute at the same time. I have a 2 year old daughter, and I can just envision this happening to me years from now.
Posted by: Anna Z. | August 02, 2006 at 01:55 PM
LOL! Now THAT is FUNNY, I don't care who you are!!! Look out when PMS rolls around. hee hee
Posted by: cindy | August 02, 2006 at 02:47 PM
I have two little boys, but even at two, I know where life is headed - not that "in your face" but I get it too. I love the fact that you took a picture of it, as any good scrapbooking, blogging mom would! Hope today is better and that life calms down a bit for you...
Posted by: stephenie | August 02, 2006 at 03:03 PM

Posted by: kirsty | August 02, 2006 at 03:54 PM
I love it! We hear "I hate you" and "You don't love me" from the 8 year old once or twice a week. Our response: "Guess you should go eat worms." Thanks for sharing!!!!
Posted by: Trish | August 02, 2006 at 04:00 PM

Posted by: Tammy M. | August 02, 2006 at 04:25 PM
That is so freaking funny!
Posted by: tracy | August 02, 2006 at 04:43 PM
I love it. I can truly say for all of you mom's of young kids that you will all laugh about this some day. I have two daughters, age 22 and 18. The 22 year old and I had many go arounds in the 12-19 age range not only did she hate me but I was the most stupid person on the face of the earth! But I'm glad to say she and I are dear friends now. The 18 year old and I have always been very close. In 3 weeks I will be suffering with the "empty nest syndrome"! I am not looking forward to that.:(
So you laugh now and 10 years from now you will all laugh together. I wish I would have been scrapbooking then, I would have kept all those "love/hate" letters!
Posted by: Sharon | August 02, 2006 at 04:49 PM
BWAAHHHH!!! OMG!!! That is hysterical!!
Love, love, love that you took a picture.
And you must be going to scrap that bad boy, right??!!

I made a box for my mommy hate mail. Best question ever...Mom? yes? How do you spell naughty? Why? Because you are and I am writing you a note to tell you. :)

I LOVE the fact that you took a picture! and I love that in the midst of all of this, you can still hang on tight to your sense of humor! :)

OMG, how funny is that? well, funny b/c she's not mine, but not so funny that I have that in my future - when days that this happen, I just look at my little boy and smile

That is hilarious. And like you, I think I would have cracked up laughing... kind of like I did when my 4-year-old put her hands on her hips and yelled at me that I ruined her life. I had to turn around I was laughing so hard.
Posted by: Stacey | August 02, 2006 at 08:43 PM
chuckling - been there done that with mine too! (at first I accidently typed "chucking" - apparently, it's good that I proof read!). I am so excited to meet you in January - I love getting to know you through your blog before you even arrive! Thanks for sharing!
Posted by: sheri | August 02, 2006 at 08:50 PM
Note to self...if you can pick up the camera, what with the blood pouring from the wounds inflicted by mommy hate mail, take pictures to enjoy later....or to store as evidence...HA!
Posted by: Felecia | August 02, 2006 at 08:57 PM
OMG...I just got an I'm sorry card from my 11 yo DD yesterday. DH got one too. Sad thing is she had gotten in trouble earlier in the day and then stayed up late to make scrapbooked "I'm sorry" cards for both of us. Then she got in trouble for staying up late. Little did we know what she was up to. Really made me bawl when I saw the card sitting on my nightstand the next day. Guess I should take a picture too!
Posted by: Karla | August 02, 2006 at 09:12 PM

OMG...that is so classic!
Reminds me of a note my DD (She just turned 7. Watch out. It only gets worse!) wrote to us about a month ago.
It started...
To Mom & Dad
From Your Daughter Asha
It started out...
I hate this town. Everyone has a trampoline. We don't have a trampoline.
(Little did the little bugger know that we had just bought one at Sam's Club.)
Have fun on your big trip!
BTW, I love the art table. What a great idea!
