ok so yesterday after looking at all of the fabulous week in the life albums on ali's blog i decided to take pictures of my family.
i have commitment issues so a week of taking pictures and i fall short,
but a couple of head shots to document my family is totally doable, LOL!
not even sure what i want to do with them, but i have em!
(cole got his haircut shortly after i took this photo, he looks so much cleaner now, but i loved the long locks!) he is learning about fire prevention and wanted me to take his photo with his fire truck...god i love this little guy!
got this box on my door step yesterday!
what was in it you ask?
like i didn't know that was your next question, lol!
here's what i got, much of it inspired by reading ashley calders new book, Scraptastic!
- white Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Inks
- Grumbacher Miskit Frisket
- Grafix Frisket Film
- Dark Annealed Wire
- Blick Liquid Watercolor
- Holbein Irodori Antique Watercolors - in opal green, seedling, turq. violet. yellow green
have been playing for the past couple of days
here are a couple of work-in-progress (WIP) shots.
i hope to have some finished canvases to post after the weekend.
and the best news of all!!
FINALLY I HAVE LIGHTS in my studio! I CAN SEE!!!
can you hear the angels singing!!!
{aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh}
and continue to email me if you have joined the campaign for creativity...i am going to be posting all the blog/website links this weekend! LOVE your enthusiasm!!

First: your family is so beautiful and absolutely exude the same joy and pure love that you shower on them daily. Love those photos!
Second: Envy is a sin, right? Cuz I'm not sure if I'm more envious of your talent, or the fact that you get to surround yourself with the beautiful things you make.
Dude. I SO want an ounce of that mojo. Loved this post. :)

I just sent you an email. I love the pics of your family. That little boy of yours is so precious with that fire truck. I think I'll show his pic to my husband, who's a firefighter. He loves to see little boys (and girls) proudly displaying firetrucks.

Just have to say, your children have the most beautiful eye color, they're all gorgeous. And they're sooooooo blond....love it. Being Asian myself, surrounded by dark eyes and dark hair.....love the polar opposite that I see in your family. Thanks again for all the inspiration, you're work in progress canvasses look terrific too. And congrats on the ceiling lights, I feel your excitement too!!!

Hi Donna, I wanted to tell you when I read the header "Let there be light" I thought you were refering to your family because their faces are so reflective and full of lumonisty, really, so suprise to me when you said you had new studio lights..lol..I envy you I never have enough light and am constantly taking things outside to see what color they really are. But you do have a wonderfully "bright" family. also what kind of camera did you buy when you lost your last one?

What a handsome family! Great photos. I was inspired by your review of Scrapstastic to order it from Amazon sight unseen. It arrived yesterday and I love it! Can't wait to play with all the techniques. Glad you have light in your studio now - you did beautiful work before, but now that you can "see"...!

What great photos!! Sorry to tell you, but they all look a lot like Bill! (Don't worry, I have the same problem with mine!)
Oh. My. Gosh. Those canvases are YUMMY!!! I'm definitely ordering Scraptastic, and maybe some goodies of my own from Blick ;)
Thanks for the INSPIRATION, as always!

Your family is beautiful...and your children sure take after your husband! Love the peek at works in progress..can't wait to see them completed!! Can't believe you waited this long to add lighting...I can't see without it, I have a hugh window, and standing light..but would love to add more directional light to my ceiling...maybe this summer! Thanks for all the inspiration!

love your lights and looks like some gorgeous stuff you are working on.

Okay chica... you simply must do a charity auction for an afternoon scrapping with you in your studio with all your product!! I would sooooo bid on that! It would be such a joy just to hang out with you and create (and for me half the battle is knowing what supplies to use!)

Donna, great pictures of your family but I hope you also took some shots of you too. Remember you're a big part of your family and the little guys will cherish pictures of their Mom just as much as you cherish theirs. The new lighting in your studio is great. I have a lot of lamps around mine but it isn't the same as great overhead lighting so I understand your excitement. Maybe one day.

I'm so jealuos of your lights!! I had water leak through the ceiling and light fixture in my scrap room during Hurricane Ike. It stinks, but I do still have a house:-) I am beyond anxious to get the repairs done!

Great pictures and great art :) And I am green with envy for those lights! I keep asking my hubby to get me some of those, but we aren't sure how easy they would go in. But it looks like yours went in easy peasy!

thanks for sharing the pics of your family! How adorable they are! My oldest son had beautiful blonde locks when he was young, and hated that I loved his hair long...so much so that he all but shaves the hair off his head so the hair isn't curly! I'd kill for that hair! Okay, maybe that's a bit strong, but still...love your new lights! Envious of Dick Blick stuff...I love Dick Blick, but must use what I ordered a couple months ago first...and that's a LOT! Take care!

D,
in the photo of your paints on the palette, what palette do you have there? Is it actually a non stick sheet? Kinda looks like it but I can't tell but if it is not, wouldn't that be a good use of one!
And god bless Dick Blick's. I got my 72 Derwent Inktense from them and they are my pride and joy!!
