the school system called at around 9 PM last night as the snow began to fall to notify parents that school would be closed today.
the kids woke up to this on their door.
They were over the moon excited to wake up to no school, but more importantly these 2 signs bought mommy an extra hour of sleep! YEAHHHH!
it snowed 4 inches last night and it was that big wet kinda snow.
we did suffer a couple casualties,
Mr. tree is a gonner.
but more importantly, THE TV IS OUT!
oh sweet mother of god, a snow day and no TV, i hope the snow doesn't melt any time soon!
so at 7AM we were dressed and in the snow. (ok they were dressed, i was in my jammies and uggs). 4 inches of snow is an event, a day of celebration!! the rain boots have been money well spent!
and all cole kept yelling was,
"SNOW-BALL-FIIIIIGHT!"
they made some snow angels...
and even had a snack...
we had a big egg breakfast, hot chocolate, photo shoot in the snow, played club penguin, and dried hats and gloves 3 times all before 10 am.
whew...
so in honor of all things celebration,
i would like to celebrate today by giving away a copy of Claudine Hellmuth's latest creative inspiration, The Scrapbook Creativity Kit.
This set is jam packed with ideas and includes this really cool deck of prompts and idea cards to get your mojo fired up! since i have a bit of cabin fever today i think i am going to take out my set of cards and play as well.
leave your comment today and tell me how your going to celebrate today and your comment just may win you this little piece of creative inspiration.
i will post the winner in tomorrows post!
I am going to get outside and play as we have a sunny warm spring day!!

I'm going to celebrate with a lunch out just for me. Today is a very exciting day for me as I am embarking on the first steps to winning my war against infetility!

As I live in California and we are having tons and tons of rain, I plan to celebrate the weather today (I am off work as I had to work on Sunday) and do all things creative. Plus a few errands as we have a trip to the snow planned for our dog (A bernese mountain dog- whose original homeland is all about snow) - I plan to jump in at least one puddle today just because!

I am going to walk the nature trail through the lagoon. It's a beautiful day here in sunny so cal, no snow in sight!!

We are having a snow day as well, so my day will include sledding, shoveling, and snowball fights, too. Hoping to fit some scrapping in somewhere. Thanks for the great giveaway!

It's cold but sunny and clear today after yesterday's brief but decent snow storm. Today, I am going to the nearby public gardens and see how the budding flowers are doing. :)
Posted by: Linh C. | March 02, 2009 at 11:54 AM
We have a snow day today also! Though we are in New England. Hahaha! It is March now though and I am so ready for Spring! Today we will be outside playing anyways. Sledding, snow angels and maybe even a snowman. This could (maybe?) be our last oppotunity... :-)

I am going to love and encourage my students that they can pass the standardized test that they have to pass to go on to high school...and then be grateful that my own children have one more year before the horrible standardized tests start!

I am celebrating today by staying in my PJ's. So far we have had 8 inches of snow (I live in the Northeast). Warm fire, pajamas, and hot chocolate. I think I'll watch my kids from the window.
Posted by: Dana | March 02, 2009 at 11:55 AM
Looks like so much fun! Enjoy your day.

I'm going to enjoy my boyfriends company. He's ill at home but normally he has to work in the evening. You can imagine how thrilled I am to have him at home.
Posted by: Isolde | March 02, 2009 at 11:56 AM
That looks like a fun way to spend the day but we're only having rain today. I have to check the tide tables to see if I can get to work (rain + high tides = flooded streets and no way to get to the building where I'm working). Need to pick up a birthday gift, stop at Costco to get gas and pick up grad photos of my student, hopefully time to run into the scrapbook store and then work.

I'm going to celebrate today by cooking my first ever turkey for dinner tonight!
Posted by: Meghan E | March 02, 2009 at 11:57 AM
I'm going to continue to celebrate Spring! We don't have a very long one here and the temperature will be up in the 90's(F) before too long. Everything will go from being green with flowers to dead and brown. Enjoy the snow and send that precipitation our way when you are tire of it (TX Gulf Coast) 'cause we are in an extreme drought.
Posted by: Katherine McKamey | March 02, 2009 at 11:59 AM
I'm going to relax after being out of town for the weekend, and later take the dog for a walk. :-)
Posted by: Karin | March 02, 2009 at 12:00 PM
I too am snowed in...but I work from home so I can't play in the snow!
But I am celebrating the month of March! Here in the northeast we have made it over the hump as we say. Spring is on the way!

I took the day off, so I will celebrate today by relaxing, finishing twilight, and a quilt project!

You guys crack me up. I love that somewhere else, people are thrilled with snow. ;-) We're getting pounded with some lake effect snow today (but it's the light fluffy soap opera snow, at least!) and I wish it would stop!! Anyhow, I am celebrating today with a trip to Victoria's Secret for some new unmentionables. LOL. New skivvies are always fun!

Congratulations on your snow day. I grew up in the South and those rare occasions where snow did fall it was a huge celebration time. Such FUN! I'm so happy for your children.
I would love to win Claudine Hellmuth's newest inspiration. I love her work and could use it.
Today was my last day with my trainer for a while. I am up-ing my cardio and focusing on diet. I am feeling energized for the change.
Have a great day!

Oh my gosh look at that gorgeous snow! We had sandstorms here in Dubai, pretty ghastly! However, it was more than a good excuse to stay indoors and play on my laptop (OK, I guess that is most days, LOL, but I started an on-line photography class today and I am so excited to finally learn how to use my camera properly. A very good day indeed. Sue

We're having a snow day in Maryland, too. I think as of noon we've got about 6-7 inches. Can't really tell, it's blowing so much. I'm going to celebrate by baking cookies for my kids and sitting down to watch Oprah all by myself!
Thanks,
Susan.

I know I'm boring !!

Normally, Monday would be a workday, but the son was not feeling well. While that is not a reason to celebrate, his health is --- turns out his fever was the result of a common cold with some allergy issues mixed in.
We're going to celebrate with a big cup of coffee with coconut creamer for me and some computer games for the kids. Then, we'll celebrate with some quiet time and some cheese and cracker snack.
A lovely day indeed.

This is the first giveaway I am saying "don't pick me" - I bought this book last week - it's fantastic!
I love your snow pictures - those signs are great! Also, a little tip on 'how to keep your gloves dry whilst playing in the snow' - put sandwich bags (the plastic ones) on each hand and hold it on with a hair elastic around the wrist - keep those hands warm AND dry :o)
While you're celebrating snow, we're celebrating the beginning of Spring here in England and even thinking about packing our winter coats away!

I am signed into work remotely today from my couch with a kitty curled up next to me and a blanket over my lap. :-) I live in MA and we got around 6" of snow over night and more is on the way all day today so I opted not to commute into Boston in a blizzard. Maybe I will make some snow angels later like your family! Enjoy the day!
Posted by: Samantha Piette | March 02, 2009 at 12:27 PM
No snow for me here so I got a full day of work ahead of me. It's nice to share in your families snow day.
Posted by: Shellz | March 02, 2009 at 12:27 PM
Today is WAY too cold here to be celebrating outside so I'm taking the kids to a FREE play place and then we're off to my mum's house for some of her fantastic cooking. Yum!

I am going to celebrate today by jump starting my son's car, taking it down to O'Reilly's Auto Parts to have them run a diagnostics check on it to see why the battery goes dead in very cold weather (like today). Either the battery is old and tired or the monster subwoofer he had installed in the trunk is somehow draining the juice. Want to place a bet on what the problem is? Doesn't this sound like husband work? SIGH!
Hooray for today!!!!
I could use some creative mojo in my mailbox!!!
Posted by: carikraft | March 02, 2009 at 12:28 PM

Yep, snowed in here in New England - AGAIN! I'm really getting tired of seeing only white! So ready for spring ... but, I will watch my kids enjoy their rumpus in the snow and have fun from my studio windows where I will be creating a layout for a challenge to use an animal print in the layout. A win-win snow day. Gotta love it. I just hope there aren't any more snow days this year. Would really love to see green sometime SOON.
