Pickled Pear Lane has everything fabric goodness.
one of my favorite things about using fabrics (ok buying fabrics) is putting together the patterns and color palettes and seeing how well they work together. Marianne Johnson does an amazing job of this and assembles theses bright colorful collections of fabrics as bundle sets on her site. it makes total sense to me to see them stacked together like pattern papers and tugs at my "must have Now" impulses!
even if you are not into fabrics you can totally appreciate the collections as inspiration.
today is an amazing giveaway day because Pickled Pear Lane is giving away 9 fat quarters from Dena Designs latest fabric line, Monaco, in both Fuchsia and Blue colorways to one REALLY LUCKY blog commenter today!
all you need to do is leave a comment today and tell me if you have ever used fabric in your craft projects before and if so, share with us how. i will post the winner tomorrow!
good luck and thanks so much to Marianne for being so generous. to see more inspirational fabric bundles check out her etsy shop here.
Was just doing some mending yesterday and was so annoyed that I couldn't find my pincushion. I stopped what I was doing and pulled out two coordinating fat quarter pieces and whipped one up. Love having the cute stacks of coordinating fabrics at my fingertips. Mac

Omg...love these fabrics! They are gorgeous! I haven't used fabric for scrapbooking, but I've used it to make a quilt with my grandma before she passed away...I {heart} it! First post!

I haven't used fabric in scrapbooking yet but I JUST got a sewing machine and made a cute tote bag over the weekend... I have a new love of fabric now and can't wait to play with it more!

Love those colors! I have used a little bit of fabric usually by stamping on it and layering it w/ a layout. It gives something different and texture and it's really fun to try something different.

Donna,

I have used fabric on my layouts and on an altered flower pot just lately. I mostly just love to collect the beautiful fabrics and maybe someday I will use them! :)
Posted by: Wendy A | May 19, 2009 at 10:50 AM
i used fabric on layouts for the first time less than a month ago.
I just threw some glue on the page and sort of made "ripples" in the fabric. my page was missing something and the fabric was the perfect solution.
there were embroidered flowers on it and i threw some more glue in the centre of the flowers and added beads for a little colour. perfect.

I am IN LOVE! The colors are so vibrant! I have used fabric to add details and accents to my scrapbook pages and cards. I also have done some fabric crafts all on their own, too! I don't sew (at least not with a machine) so I'm limited until I learn, but it will come in time!
Posted by: Jingle | May 19, 2009 at 10:51 AM
I use fabric for layering, and love the texture it brings to the page...I also love using lace and trims.
The colours in these sets are wonderful! so so pretty...

I've never used fabric on a craft, but I could surely be inspired to with those yummy fat quarters!

OMG! What beautiful colors of fabric. I haven't yet used fabric on anything I've done, but with these gorgeous fabrics, I'd love to give it a try!

These fabrics are GORGEOUS! I love cutting bits of fabrics to collage into my paintings.
Posted by: Carmen Torbus | May 19, 2009 at 10:55 AM
These fabrics are gorgeous and pairing fabrics (or patterned paper for that matter) scares me, so the pre-done bundles fit my perfectionist sensibilities.
I have only used bits and pieces of fabric. My sewing machine scares me--I know it shouldn't, but it does.

I was totally inspired by your use of fabric and tried using some to create a fabric album.. I combined the fabric with pattern paper and some other fun embellies, some HS iron words. FUN!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these fabrics!!!! thanks for sharing with us!

I'm just starting to play with fabrics & these prints are so pretty! I'm in the process of learning how to make my first quilt & am having a blast learning how to sew & put it together!

Oh, I love fabric and this is one of my favorite places to get it! Right now I've been using fabric to make camera straps, camera bag covers (covering up my ugly one) and attempting to use it for scrabble tile necklaces...not sure on the last one yet! :)
Posted by: LeAnne | May 19, 2009 at 10:57 AM
Those fabrics are yummy! And, yes, I did your fabric of my life album and I love, love, love it! Definitely like working with fabric... so fun!

I have just started to use fabric in my scrapbooking. I love how it looks and am tempted to buy a sewing machine. My husband says I do not need another item I need to learn how to use. Maybe some day. I love the colors and could use both the girly and boy colors.
Thanks

I love fabric, but rarely use it in scrapping. If I win, I'll have to change that.
Posted by: Kim Hacking | May 19, 2009 at 11:04 AM
Gorgeous! Those colors are so inspiring! I haven't used fabric on my projects, other than ribbon. I've been wanting to, but feeling intimidated about going to the store and attempting to buy fabric. This would be the perfect jump start! -Sharyn
Posted by: Sharyn | May 19, 2009 at 11:04 AM
No, but I've wanted to, I'm jsut not sure how. I guess if I win, I'll have to read through all the comments and get some ideas. I don't know if I could handle all the yummy fabrics in addition to all the yummy patterned papers.
Posted by: TracyBzz | May 19, 2009 at 11:04 AM
I like using fabric as a background in picture frames, then double side taping my picture to the fabric. I hope to do more fabric crafting in the future, especially since I'm learning to sew.

I have just completed one fabric mini book -- from a kit of your very own "Ms. Downey". Loved working with fabric and love these colors --WOW do they ever pop!

Since last fall I've been working bits and pieces of fabric into the different craft/decor things I do. It's amazing how that one little burst of fabric can transform an ok project into a spectacular one!
Posted by: Erin C | May 19, 2009 at 11:05 AM
Boy this fabric is gorgeous! I make decorative projects with fabric, skirts for christmas trees, pillows, baby stuff, table runners, etc. I would love to try soft sculpture. This might be the perfect fabric for that.
Posted by: Scrapycandy | May 19, 2009 at 11:06 AM
I have used fabric on my scrapbook pages a couple of times, but I really enjoy using the fabric more for inspiration and then making something out of it like an applique I made for my comforter (http://artismysunshine.blogspot.com/2008/08/quick-little-post.html) or making purses out of pretty fabric. This fabric is GORGEOUS- I'm going to need to check out her etsy shop more often. :)

Also love to make flowers with fabric and then used some liquid starch to make em stiff...:)
I love to sew...love fabric...so inspired by this post!
Thanks!

Gorgeous fabric! I have never used fabric on my layouts/cards but I have started sewing clothes for my daughter and have intentions to make a quilt (we'll see how far I get with that).

My new project is using my Cricut to cut out shapes in paper that I trace onto my fabric. Then I applique those fabric shapes on to other fabrics. Such an easy way to make cute designs for a non-artistic drawer like me!!! I'm working on Christmas presents now.

I have just started a love affair with fabric over the last year. I admit that I buy more than I use. . .but have enjoyed making a quilt, a ball for a baby, a doll, and birthday banners. Should start incorporating into my scrapping too.

I've used fabric to quilt, but not in scrapbooking - would love to try it with these beautiful options, though! thanks ;-)

Those fabrics are gore-gee-us!! I have a little fabric addiction problem, but don't sew- yikes!! Luckily my mom is an amazing quilter so she is often the beneficiary of my addiction LOL. Luckily, the quilts come back home to her four grandchildren. Whoo Hoo! I have used fabric to cover a scrapbook album I made of her quilts- and that was fun! I used fabric with decoupage medium. Came out pretty good iffen I do say so myself!

OMG This fabric looks so YUMMY! I love those colors and patterns. I have incorporated fabric into my projects since taking your black damask book class in VA! I learned how to make books, but since have even applied them to my cards and now I make fabric flowers which I adore! My love for fabric (fashion) is now transferred into my craft and I owe it to you for showing me how and not to be afraid! :) Thanks Donna!

I have loads of fabric and do a lot of sewing (costumes, pretty purses, etc.) and occasionally, it crosses over into my scrapbooking. I definitely need to do it more - just got the new fabric album with my Studio Calico kit and I'm super excited to see what I can do with it.

This Christmas I started making coffee cozies as gifts and have loved playing with fabric. I try and find a pattern that matches the interests of my friends and make one for them. I still have yet to find a fabric with scrapbooking stuff on it though. I'm looking!

I use fabric all the time, but mostly with my knitting projects as accents or liners. I love when people incorporate fabric into their scrapbook pages. One of these days I'll actually have to try it.

Ok, the last time I used fabric in my projects were to make flower yo-yo's with painted green kebab sticks and hobby craft leaves! They turned out gorgeous. The time before that was an art quiltlette I made using your video tutorials, I love how it turned out too!!! xo

What gorgeous fabric. Such bright summery colours. I have used fabric a few times in my scrapbooks, but want to a lot more (I have got a little stash of fabric :-) !!) Used it as mats for photos and also for ruffled edges.

I have recently discovered sewing, can't wait to have my own sewing machine, meanwhile I sew mainly by hand.
I use fabrics a lot in my scrapbooking, especially by making lovely handmade flowers.
Thank you

OMG! I LOVE that fabric! I am as addicted to fabric as I am to designer paper, ribbon and buttons:) One way I use fabric in my crafts is to cover grungeboard with it. I cut the grungeboard into flower petals and cover the petals with the fabric, each petal a different fabric. Can't get enough of it!:)

How exciting for a chance to win fabric! I have just learned how to use my new sewing machine so this is a biggie for me. But mostly I am excited to try some fabric on a canvas with paint and ink for the first time. Your art and Kelly Rae's art has inspired me to jump out of my comfort zone and try something new. I want to start saving my pennies for next years Inspire Event!!

I'm a sew-er, so I LOVE fabric. And yes, I use it all the time while crafting. I've used it scrapbooking, too. I made a Christmas recipe album and used holiday-inspired fabrics. Really cute!
Love those colors.
