this one makes me swoon! and it is siting on my worktable as you read this!
i have been on the hunt for a portable manual typewriter, that kinda looked cool, but was totally functional! this one is PERFECTION! however in my quest for the perfect typewriter, i began bidding on a few of my favorites on ebay. i put in crazy bids like $10, $15 and this one i went up to $30.
out of the 5 i bid on i won 3!! the turquoise beauty up there (it needs a new ribbon so if anyone knows anything about replacement ribbons or a source i would love your help!)
this one
which works beautifully and mckenna has taken a liking to.
and this one. which hasn't arrived yet.
i was totally coveting these but just couldn't fork out the cash, but totally worth the look!
- orange beauty
- yellow sunshine
- another retro orange one
- retro blue green
- and these adorable and quite expensive pink ones here and here
i will keep you updated on the 3rd one when it arrives, i might have a typewriter for sale, lol! (and hopefully i can find a ribbon for the blue one!)
stay tuned over the weekend for an awesome crazy daisy giveaway!
I've been on the hunt too, but leary about getting one that I might not be able to find ribbon for - that would be too much of a tease! Saw one at a yard sale a few weeks back but wasn't "pretty" so I'm holding out for one I'm in love with...well obviously you know what I mean!

That is a great looking typewriter!! I won one from ebay back in February! The ribbon didn't work all that well (I thought I needed a new one too), but it turns out that I didn't. I just re-inked mine...here is the link to the post where I showed how...

I too got an old typewriter on e-bay that needed a ribbon. I got mine through Amazon.com, it was a company called EBS-Hard to find office supplies.
Hope they can help.

I too was on the hunt for AGES and I just got mine too. As for the ribobn I think that it would be a standard reel to reel. I found a replacement one at the stationers that was a universal but my typewriter had the original steel reels inside. So I simply wound them off the plastic new reels and onto the old steel ones. Ta da!
Heres a layout I did about my lil cutey... ;)

I have an antique 1932 Underwood Typewriter in the attic - I remember typing up my Geometry notes on it when I was in High School and I could never bring myself to get rid of it. Funny how I never thought to bring it down and into my Studio. Guess I'll be cleaning up the old typewriter and re-inking the ribbon. Hmmmmm... and finding a place for it in the room.... such a fun thing to be working on!!

a local business in downtown Mesa (Mesa Typewriter) has ALL the supplies needed and when I picked up a beauty at a tag sale recently, I took it by his shop and he got me up and running. Enjoy your new found treasure!

I buy my typewriter ribbons at any home office supply store like staples. Staples makes a universal typewriter spool. I have used it on both of my 1930's typewriter and 1940's as well.

You can buy ribbons at STAPLES.
That was easy.

My neighbor has a AT&T Electronic Typewriter she is interested in selling. It is a model 6200 (1986) that is still in the original box and we believe it has not been used. Do you buy old typewriters???? Sylvia
