{well except for the computer, which is due to arrive early next week}
finally after almost 3 week the new studio is complete and the perfect, bright creative space i had envisioned. i love every single drawer and item in there, right where they should be, lol!
i have also uploaded the individual shots of each drawer and a brief explanation of how i organized my space.
i purposely designed the space so that all of my storage was below, i wanted only art and color on my walls. although i really did like the functionality of my space before, it was beginning to feel too dark and claustrophobic. the redesign is in direct contradiction of how i felt in the room before.
the entire room is basically from ikea: red shelf, island, cabinets, photo ledge, chair, dog bed, rails and hanging baskets.
i know you want to ask this, so i will just put it out there. How much did it cost?
total cost was around $4500 (includes electrical outlets, painting, window framing, molding/ledge, counters/island and countertops) which i think is an amazingly great price!
feel free to email me any other questions about the redesign, organization or the process, but first check out the photos here. there is a lot of tidbits of info in the descriptions of the space.
Awesome! Looks great!

It looks beautiful. Of course, it's my fave color on the walls so you could have put stacks of wood boxes in there and I would like it. But, the white IKEA storage is even better :) IKEA is the best. I did my space with their products also.
Posted by: Sandi M | November 20, 2009 at 09:27 AM
Your space looks beautiful! I, too, have white cabinetry and blue walls. Just a great place to work. Wouldn't mind having an Ikea nearby though. ;)

Just beautiful! Your studio always seems to be filled with sunshine. Maybe I should move there. I really like your ladder bookshelf. I looked in my ikea 2010 catalog and couldn't find it. Do you know what the name of it is? Thanks

Gorgeous! Love your room, very inspiring, relaxing and fun!!!

Your new studio is lovely. I think the best part is that you can work in an 8x10 space. That's great news for all us hoarders who think we need an entire basement ... thanks! I love clean and simple (even though I haven't figured out how to live that way). Very nice.
Posted by: Susan | November 22, 2009 at 06:08 PM
I seems like you purged a huge amount of product for your renovation. I just did the same thing, I feel lighter already having made decisions about what I wanted and didn't want anymore, but my problem is what to do with all the perfectly good scrapbook materials? I don't want to be wasteful and I'd love to give them to an organization that will use them. I'm just at a loss. Any ideas? What did you do with your purged items??

Please let me know if I win this gorgeous band!@
Posted by: Maggie Fisher | November 30, 2009 at 01:08 PM
Can't believe you don't have a roll-around chair in there especially with wood floors?? And just what is that little critter with the perky ears in the basket? Is he/she the one who really does all those designs, your secret brain trust no less!!!!
Posted by: Maggie Fisher | November 30, 2009 at 01:11 PM
So inspired by your space! Thanks so much in sharing each step along the way...just like the weight loss story, it is so much more helpful to see it takes steps and time.
My ?: does it bother you at all to have your back to the entrance when you are on the computer? My room is an attic with slanted ceilings and I'd have so much more space if my desk/counters and computer were up against the wall...but right now I can see when someone enters the room...would love to hear your feedback on this. Thanks!
Posted by: Deirdre | November 30, 2009 at 04:39 PM
thanks dierdre!
i guess i never thought about my back to the door...it has always been that way. but i rarely sit still i am always moving around the room when i work, maybe that is why?
