sometimes with so many half ideas running around in my head, when i get one that i can see clearly i have to stop everything and execute.
to be honest with you i think it is one of the things that keeps me sane (ok that and the Lexipro).
that moment of clarity amongst deadlines and creative pressure can sometimes be overwhelming.
over the weekend, about 9:30 pm, settled under a blanket, watching tv i got up and headed to my studio with this idea. bill doesn't even question anymore other to ask, "will you be coming back?"
i got up and wanted to make ruffles! soft flowy muslin ruffles using the base of my new canvas bag. ideas like these literally take me only about 1-2 hours to execute.
CLARITY...like i can already see the finished result before i start. weird huh?
anyway, today i am sitting here thinking of a million other things that i would rather be doing outside of the creative pieces i NEED to be creating.
i am thinking the secret is to not work on the things you need to do and only create the things you want to do. the things you create with your passion may lead you in the direction you needed to go all along.
i am going to test out that theory today.
i have also been adding some great new products to the online shop. be sure to check it out!
I love the bag ! I was hoping it came with the ruffles already since I'm sew challenged :) I'm really going to try to learn to sew this year, it's on my to do list. Have a creative day Donna !

I love this, it is so awsome. Love the color combo and Grey is so popular right now as the "new black". I am amazed that the ruffles are just glued on. Thanks for the inspiration.

I LOVE your quote Donna! You're right! I need to work on the things that I want to do. Let the passion spill out ... Learn to set aside the things I'm "supposed/need" to do! I Love the frills and simply adore you!!!

Hi Donna
"Supposed/need" to do...? One of the side quotes in Artists Way is by Barbara Ueland: "So you see, imagination needs moodling--long, inefficient, happy idling, dawdling and puttering." (page 4) Someone very wise has already suggested that you should just go ahead and do what you need to do and the rest will be made all the better for it.
I have just today found your blog. I am home on a snow holiday. I have gotten nothing else done. I call it "happy idling" but I have also learned bunches about how art journaling happens. Many thanks.

"i am thinking the secret is to not work on the things you need to do and only create the things you want to do. the things you create with your passion may lead you in the direction you needed to go all along." Donna, wonderfully said. Thank you for adding a quote to my journal. :) love ya'

This bad is so very pretty, Donna. Snow day in NJ today. Finished my BELOVED book (from Big Picture Classes) and added two pages of my own - it is a beautiful project. Will start the FANCY LADIES after my lesson plans are done!! And I do want to make them very much - You are right! the projects you want to do come out the best since they are driven by passion. Travel safely.
