i took all last week off...no work just play!
i painted everyday and loved every minute of it. here is a second large canvas i made, still inspired by the art of flora bowley, but slowly finding myself in the process.
enjoy the video...
the beautiful music in the video is by Kyrstyn Pixton. i found her music through Flora's workshop and played it in the background as i created this piece...her music has such movement and speaks to me is such magical ways. here is the link to her "Embers" album, download it now, it will be the best $9 you ever spent!
LOVE this one!!

I LOVE that you are painting with your hands instead of using a brush the whole time! I have a question. The colors you first laid down, do they show through or create some depth? Or did you decide you didn't want them and just painted over? I can't tell from the finished photo. Thanks for sharing!

Donna, it's like you have magic in your fingertips. Watching you create is like a dance of art, it's emotional. You are so amazing, thank you for sharing this with us. -Erica

Love this! Love the bright colors.
Thanks for the inspiration!

this is a technique flora uses and in her work she really knows how to let the first layers become a part of her finished piece, i have not fully grasped that yet, but it has been serving me in the sense that "inspiration has to find you working" kinda way. the forward motion of it all is a bit freeing. i anjoy the freedom of slopping paint on a canvas bacause sometimes staring at a big blank canvas can be scary.

Amazing Donna!
Can't wait to see all that you do!
I pre-ordered Flora's book.
Thinking of doing that e-course coming up in June. I love the way you time lapse it, it's fascinating and hugely inspiring and utterly beautiful. I have TONS of huge canvases and acrylics sitting collecting dust and a great easel. Been in a creative slump for too long, so woo hoo, lets all try this out! And I'm amazed at how you turned bird cages into flowers. Keep going... you have a lot of fans you know! x

Thanks for sharing your creative process. You are such a beautiful artist and I really enjoy watching you in these videos. I have one question. When you start on a blank canvas, you appear to be just scribbling paint everywhere and then at some point you start covering it with your beautiful blended backgrounds. What is the purpose of the first, kind of scribbling, layer?

Oops, just noticed that someone else asked my question. Thanks for answering!!!

So Inspiring as usual! : ) I am working on an online graphic design course and at the end of next week I will have learned my last piece of software...a milestone in the program to me. You have inspired me to set up a too long blank canvas and treat myself to some creative play. Also the words you placed on this piece really are resonating with me. So thanks for that too!

I've subscribed for a while, but just visited quietly from the sidelines. Today I'm motivated to comment. I just have to say how much I appreciate your sharing of the stages your paintings go through. As a novice painter, it is immensely encouraging to see that a painting/project can go through many stages, many ideas, and eventually become a piece to love. Each time I take a wrong turn in my painting and think 'oh oh', I know there is a solution if I just persevere. Thanks so much.

Hi Donna, ditto to all the above from me. I loved the underpainting and felt it was a shame to cover it up. (me thinks this may be relating to not letting go of things!)
OR is it I don't like things hidden or secrets kept from me.. or. or ... or... I think you get the picture LOL

Hi Donna, watching this process makes me incredibly happy! I just love watching you create magic with paint and you inspire me to try constantly too!
One question re finger painting - does the oil etc in our skin have any effect on acrylic paint in the long term? Just wondering.
Big smiles from New Zealand. p.s. please do more of these videos, they are so amazing! I'd love to see you paint a poppy using this process

Hi Donna, it's lovely, can you tell me what paint you use? my paint is drying to quick. I assume Golden fluids but with gesso or the open acrylics? Thank you for the inspiration.

Fabulous canvas Donna and thanks so much for sharing your process with us. I signed up for Flora's class but have been unable to get the time to doing anything yet, but you have inspired me to make the time to play and jump right in. I think it is a bit of fear that I can't do it so thanks for the motivation. I love your infectious fun and enthusiasm in all your videos.
One last thing: when are you coming to Australia? We would love to have you here.
