had a serious love hate relationship going with this page. usually i try to keep my playtime in my collage journal condensed...trying to create on the fly with scraps. this page took a dark turn, lol! i put paint, sweat and tears into this one and decided i had gone too far and needed to walk away. i kinda like the chaos now...but i just needed that all important taking a step back moment to appreciate it.
we all go to that dark, "i hate what i have just done moment" so this week lets celebrate knowing that all you need to do is walk away and gain perspective.
supplies used:
- A4 moleskine journal
- book text
- white gesso
- black Dr Martins bombay india ink
- 7gypsies gaffer tapes
- NEW large "wild Geranium" stamp
- random rub-ons
- black dots SMASH tape
- Golden fluid acrylic paints
- size 12 round brush
- black stazon
- heidi swapp alphabet stickers (this i have been hoarding for some time)
- helmar 450 quick dry
- mini shipping tag
i LOVE this! the boldness of the black with the bright acrylics and large letters - love all of it.
and i agree - i've had several of those "i hate what i have just done moment" moments. :)

When you have one of those 'i hate its' you can be there is someone out there who will love it! And I do this! The chaos seems to reflect life for some, lol!

This is awesome! Isn't it wonderfully compelling when we walk away from something we're 'Meh.' about, coming back we see it differently? I love this piece, Donna!

I like this Donna, The contrast between the bright, happy colors at the top and the dark, somber at the bottom are very striking. And the addition of the yellow circles across the dark section sort of links the two together.

I think it's funny what you said about this spread, because I think it's just delicious! I absolutely love it and want to jump right in and bathe in it. It's a perfect mix of bright cheerfulness, black grime graffiti, even with a hint of doodly goodness. Reminds me of life, a mix of all kinds of stuff. Love it! One of my faves!

I certainly LOVE this!!!. I love how you always end love-hate-collage-relationships with happy endings! LOL. Totally gorgeous with all that happy balloons and black ink against the pink alpha stickers!. I'm inspired to work with pink/black next :). HUGS.

i love the colors and the "dark side." i think that all good pieces go through an ugly "OMG i hate this"- and some can and will emerge. just like this one.

I love this spread...actually were it on canvas I would hang it in my house. Great color contrast and intuitive.

Thanks for showing us the stuff that you really aren't in mad love with but somehow end up feeling okay with. I have so much stuff here that I do and think...oh do I love this? do I hate this? It shows all of us that it's the process and the pushing through that counts. Your work stands alone Donna. The colors with the black is just off the charts awesome! If you posted this and didn't write any of your feelings about the process NO ONE WOULD even guess that it wasn't your best work. Thanks for your honest feedback about yourself and what it takes to make amazing art. :)
