i love this piece...it is the largest canvas i have ever painted at 60 x 40" and it has inspired me to work bigger more often. it proudly hangs in the studio gallery and every time i walk past it i kinda slow down a bit and smile. HAPPY PLACE!
it took many twists and turns before it ended here and i thought it might be fun to share the "lotus flower" canvas journey with you. as readers and commenters of my blog you encourage, motivate and inspire me...thank you so much!
i have just listed this original "lotus flower" piece and several others for sale and hope that they ignite the same pasionate response in others as they do me.
if you enjoyed this video you may enjoy watching my previous start to finish videos of "Inner voice" and "be the change" sister paintings
Donna - I just have to thank you for being so open and sharing with your talent! Watching you paint has been a highlight in many of my days - and, of course, very inspiring. After several years of painting in watercolor - painting "things" - this is all so new to me! You have given me the courage to continue to try to find out what is in me.

The problem with a post like this is that I watch it while I'm at work, and then I'm useless .... all I want to do is go home and paint!! Your work is beautiful, and I'm loving watching you grow! Thank you for sharing this wonderful video! <3

I have never watched anyone paint on a canvas with their hand as a brush. Every time I watch one of your videos, I am inspired to try something new! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful art.

Of course it's magic! I have watched all of your canvas paintings start to finish more than once. I love how fearless you are to just cover up what doesn't work and go for what does. So many elements of this painting I thought Oh I want to do that....then you'd switch and do something else. What is great is that is exactly what it's like when you are in the middle of a great canvas...(at least for me it is)! Rock on girl. I am dying to come out there and take a class or do a weekend or something. I can hardly stand it!!!!!

I loved seeing those doggies in the background with tails wagging in fast forward! that itty bitty dog is so darn cute! This is brave of you to share with us and I'm so thrilled to watch the process - LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this journey with all of us! I love to watch you create and am inspired every time. This is a really fabulous canvas and if I had the cash lying around it would be mine and hanging in my family room. Can't wait to see you again in April!

Wow, when I first saw this video I wondered if I wanted to sit and watch you paint for a half hour right now. Since my other option was cleaning the kitchen floor, I decided YES!. It was stunning. Watching the painting evolve was amazing - I couldn't take my eyes off it. I kept looking at the finished piece and thinking,"when is she going to turn it upside down?", "that's doing to disappear", and it kept getting better and better. Thanks for inspiring all of us!

Love this canvas! Its amazing how it evolved and painting with your hands is so much fun. After watching your videos I hardly uses brushes any more! Thanks for sharing!
P.S. Just wonderful how long did it take you to finish it?

What can I say that hasn't already been said?!?! I loved watching your creative process...so many, many layers and ideas covered up to bring forth such a beautiful piece of art!!
I have one question...how do you ever get your hands clean after all the hand painting??
Posted by: Barbara Albrecht | August 17, 2012 at 12:27 PM
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your process! You are amazing! Got a question---have you ever thought of doing something "whimsical" with a holiday theme? My cousins have a "progressive" every Christmas and give favors at each home. I usually make something, either an ornament or a Christmas decoration. I would love to do something like this canvas but with a Christmas theme. Any ideas? I am going to play and see if I can come up with something like a "Grinch" tree painting or maybe ornaments! I would love to see your ideas on a holiday whimsy/finger painting! Thanks for all the inspiration. Hope I can come see the new store soon!! Take care!

Absolutely Gorgeous! what a treat to see a piece come together and evolve. It appears you changed your outfit a few times, which leads me to believe you worked on it over multiple days - just how long did it take you to complete?

I love it! You have inspired me to take up acrylic painting again...so enjoyable! Watching you makes me realize that painting can be transforming in so many different ways. I look forward to all of your videos.
Your dogs...the white one with the tail wagging...precious!

I think what fascinates me so much about your work process is the amount of layering and the directions you take...you build, and build...it amazes me :) I love your lotus flower and the size of the canvas. It surely would make me smile too everytime I walked by it. waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

I wanted to holler, "NO, don't cover up that fantastic face!" when you started to make that first circle. Things come and go during your process and I never know what you are going to end up with. It's always great fun to watch, and I always learn some new technique.

Love it! Love you! Love the colors, the peeks at dogs and kids and sunshine moving across your home. Great job.

Hi!
I sent you an email as well... I just love this canvas. :)
I'm wondering if it's ok if me and my DT members over at the Swedish inspirational blog: www.swescrapbook.blogspot.com kan use this canvas as an inspiration on a Mixed Media Challenge in march?
