DJ Pettitt - Event Overview June 20-23rd
In this 4-day course, we’ll build a book using personal images and a variety of artistic techniques to make your vision come alive. We’ll focus on innovative and unique ways to preserve your treasured memories, as we work with acrylic paints, mediums, and textiles to alter the photographs and give them a painterly charm.
Learn ways to paint and alter your photos, integrate collage elements into your composition, texture techniques using mediums, ephemera and textiles, and simple book construction with an easy binding. I’ll provide a print of one of my images for you to use if you prefer to follow along step-by-step, or I’ll guide you as you work with your own. We’ll create textured book covers, signature wraps around hinged and painted pages, and then I’ll share how to create a beautiful spine, and bind it all together.
Join me on a creative adventure, and capture your vision!
No drawing or painting skills required. Class is open to all skill levels and you will receive personalized one-on-one guidance throughout the workshop.
Students should bring an apron.

Dina Wakley - Event Overview April 4-7th
Join Dina Wakley for an expressive weekend where we leave our self-criticisms at the door and open our souls to let the art guide us into powerful directions. We'll be making both a canvas and a journal structure, moving from one to the other throughout the weekend. We'll build up background layers, remove layers, and build them again to create complex and interesting surfaces. Then we'll add images with a "magic" pencil. Trust me, you don't have to know how to draw to use this pencil. I will show you tips & tricks for using it, and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. We'll draw artsy birds, and also create free-form images that we will examine and then turn into meaningful elements on our pages. We'll be using gesso, acrylic paints, modeling paste, stencils, and spray inks to fill our art with color and expression all weekend long.
