after having Stephanie Lee for a weekend at my STUDIO,
i was so inspired.
not only is her art beautiful, so is she inside and out. she made encaustic "doable" and i think we as students left with like 10+ variations of plastered, joint compounded, rigid wrapped, wax coated art. So much fun and i often do not get a chance to participate in the workshops, but this time i did!
i invited Stephanie because her work made me stop in my tracks...you know, your browsing pinterest and you stop and stare kinda thing? yep that's her work for me!
so i bought some supplies, including a little 6" skillet for my wax (its so cute!), prepped some panel boards (these were the ones on top of my stencil storage) and yesterday was the day i put what Stephanie taught me to use!
i love being a student and learning...growing...changing..."living inspired"
i plan on making this a series of 5 panel boards and will update you on my progress!
These are luscious and yummy Donna!! I was inspired the same way after leaving your class I took last week =) Can't wait to see more of these encaustics that you do. Seriously, you just want to reach out and touch them!

Wow. Stunning! But how is it applied? You stamp or paint and then protect with wax????
Posted by: Scrapper Myra | January 15, 2015 at 01:02 PM
Gorgeous! I've covered a mixed media piece with melted bee's wax in the past but never done a true encaustic painting. Now I really want to try!!

I love these Donna!!! Of course a poppy! Lol. I've had all of the stuff to do encaustic for nearly a year but it's been sitting all alone, untouched on my shelf ! I'm definitely inspired! Wow. Gotta go now and unearth my goodies & play!!!

Donna, did you use oil paints for color or just the pigmented wax? These are beautiful. I can't wait to have some time to play in my kitchen - the only place with good enough ventilation.
